AMHC
AMHC provides behavioral health and related services across multiple counties, serving public audiences, referral partners, healthcare professionals, and individuals navigating complex mental health and substance use challenges. Communicating clearly across departments and service areas requires both flexibility and careful attention to language, tone, and sensitivity. Since September 2019, VC Print has supported AMHC through website development, content organization, campaign coordination, publication design, and print production. This work required developing familiarity with behavioral health terminology, including substance use disorder and recovery support services, to communicate accurately and respectfully across a wide range of audiences. Over more than six years of collaboration, the work has spanned website infrastructure, multi-channel campaigns, publications, recruitment materials, and ongoing production support, helping build a more unified communications system that supports both day-to-day communications needs and long-range initiatives.
The Challenge
As AMHC expanded its services, communications developed organically across departments, with individual service areas creating materials independently. While responsive to community needs, this approach led to inconsistent messaging, varied visuals, and parallel content streams across the website, print materials, blog content, and social media. AMHC needed a coordinated structure to organize complex service information for different audiences, support sensitive behavioral health topics with an appropriate tone and imagery, manage high-volume communications without losing alignment, and bring greater clarity to messaging across platforms and service areas.

Project Highlights
As AMHC expanded its services, communications developed organically across departments, with individual service areas creating materials independently. While responsive to community needs, this approach led to inconsistent messaging, varied visuals, and parallel content streams across the website, print materials, blog content, and social media. AMHC needed a coordinated structure to organize complex service information for different audiences, support sensitive behavioral health topics with an appropriate tone and imagery, manage high-volume communications without losing alignment, and bring greater clarity to messaging across platforms and service areas.
The partnership began with efforts to improve the consistency of AMHC’s communications. As departments developed materials independently, messaging and visuals varied across web, print, blog, and social media. Working closely with senior leadership during a period of organizational growth, VC Print helped establish reusable templates, visual standards, and a curated image library that enhanced cohesion in communications while remaining appropriate for sensitive behavioral health topics. This framework enabled departments to communicate their individual programs and services while maintaining a more unified, professional brand presence across service areas.
With foundational standards in place, communications could be developed as coordinated systems spanning social media, blog content, website updates, recruitment materials, and print outreach. Annual awareness initiatives, including Suicide Prevention Month, Recovery Month, Mental Health Awareness Month, and Overdose Awareness Day, were structured to ensure consistency while allowing messaging to be tailored to different audiences and communication channels. Developing communications around behavioral health topics required careful attention to language, tone, and stigma reduction. Campaign materials were designed to support public awareness while maintaining clarity and respect for individuals and families navigating mental health and substance use challenges. Beginning in 2024, blog development helped establish editorial standards and voice guidelines while building a growing library of public education stories, agency updates, and service communications. Campaign work also supported Mobile Crisis updates, Recovery Support Center programming, CCBHC care coordination messaging, SUD treatment information, teen outreach, and recruitment initiatives.
As communications systems matured, the website became the central hub of AMHC’s public-facing presence. VC Print collaborated with senior leadership to reorganize site architecture, clarify complex service descriptions, and improve navigation across service areas. A major refresh launched in August 2024, strengthening accessibility, improving clarity for public audiences, and creating a more organized experience for both community members and professional referral partners. The website now serves as the digital foundation for AMHC’s broader communications, reflecting the messaging structure developed over several years of ongoing work.
Ongoing print and outreach support has included annual reports, rack cards, brochures, flyers, trade show graphics, and a comprehensive Services Directory designed to clarify complex service information for both public audiences and healthcare professionals. Annual reports required coordinated messaging across multiple stakeholder groups, including anniversary-focused editions that reflected organizational growth and transparency. Within this broader framework, specialized department materials were also developed to support unique program needs. Communications for the Children’s Advocacy Center's Sexual Assault Services program were created within AMHC’s established visual system, incorporating distinct elements appropriate to the sensitivity of the work. This approach allowed materials to remain connected to the larger organization while reflecting the subject matter with appropriate care.
Impact & Results
Long-Term Partnership
The scope of support has evolved alongside AMHC's internal structure and communications needs. During the early phase of the partnership, VC Print worked closely with senior leadership to develop foundational communications systems and brand standards, and to coordinate outreach across multiple service areas. For more than six years, this work produced a connected communications infrastructure tailored to the complexity and sensitivity of behavioral health communications, encompassing website architecture, campaign frameworks, editorial standards, visual templates, and a growing library of public-facing materials. Beginning in 2026, content development and editorial planning shifted to AMHC's internal team. VC Print continues to support the organization through print fulfillment, website editing, blog production, and updates to established campaign assets.
